Donations

The Humane Society is a Section 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are not a state, county or local government agency and as such, we receive no public funding.  In order to sustain and grow our services, we rely on the generous support of community members who make financial and in-kind donations to our agency and its programs. We encourage donations to our General Fund, which will allow us to use your gifts in the area where it is most needed; however, we believe that all donors should have the choice to support the programs and services that they are most interested in.  The Humane Society utilizes three primary funds to support its core programs.  If you are considering a donation and would like additional information, please feel free to contact Wayne Brennessel, CEO, at 803.783.1267 x18 or via email at wbrennessel@humanesc.org.

Donations can be made in the following ways:

Planned Giving: A bequest to The Humane Society will help ensure the safety and care of pets in our community. Beyond simply naming The Humane Society as a beneficiary in your will, there are many other options for planned giving. Some provide you with tax benefits while others may allow you to increase your current income, provide additional retirement income and reduce your income tax. It is important to explore your options so that both you, and those that you choose to support through planned giving, receive the full benefit of any considered gift.

In Memory Of: Donations can be made in the memory of loved ones or pets. A thank you letter will be sent to the family of the person/pet being memorialized and included in our quarterly newsletter.

In Honor Of: Donations can be made in honor of individuals or pets. A thank you letter will be sent to the individual/pet’s family being honored and included in our quarterly newsletter.

In-Kind Donations: The Humane Society is always in need of clinic supplies and equipment.
